Abstract expressionism - art movement characterised by feelings and emotions. Paintings in this style are abstractions with no noticeable relation to anything in nature.
Appropriation - refers to the use of borrowed elements in the creation of a new work.
Camouflage - a device or stratagem used for concealment.
Collage - a technique of composing a work of art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with one another, as newspaper clippings, parts of photographs etc.
Hue - The actual color of something, or the name we give a pigment or combination of pigments.
Installation piece - This term is used in art to mean any work that is designed to be set up for viewing by the public. It is often designed for a specific site.
Intensity - Purity or saturation of a colour; its liveliness or paleness
Juxtaposition - placing objects close together or side by side, especially for comparison or contrast.
Mosaic - Mosaic is the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials.
Miscellany - collection or group of various or somewhat unrelated items.
Monochromatic - Colours that are shade (a hue with black added) or tint (a hue with white added) variations of the same hue.
Portum Horroribus - Latin for Harbour of horrors.
Stratified - formed or placed in layers.
Tone - also referred to as value, tone is one of the basic elements of art. It refers to the lightness or darkness of a color, rather than what the actual color
or hue is.
Triptych - a set of three panels or compartments side by side, bearing pictures or carvings.
Worked sample - The teacher's self made example of a product that they will be having the students create.
